She Walked Away From Us!

“But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted” (John 15:7)
I never heard from her again except for a brief, stiff greeting in a parking lot just days after she walked away from us. I thought about her a lot. I prayed for her and the child she had given birth to after she remarried. She had moved to another city.
We had accepted her as a daughter. She was full of laughter and fun. Innovative. We loved her. She was part of our lives for six years and then she was gone. But she was never far from my thoughts or my prayers.
That was eight years ago. One year, while on holidays, we drove past the city she had moved to. As we drove by, I prayed and asked the Lord to give me some indication of how she was doing. About a month later, I received an email from a stranger who had talked to her at an evangelistic outreach in a nearby city. She told her she was going through another divorce and she said she missed us.
Knowing how she was doing was such an awesome answer to prayer. Her attendance at the church function assured me that she was still interested in spiritual things. Now I would pray more specifically. I was so thankful. God gives us the desire of our hearts.
Thank You Lord, for hearing and answering the cry of our hearts. Thank You that You have her in the palm of Your hand. Please bring her back into close fellowship with You. Amen.
