Have a Good Day, Ma'am!

"You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be
hidden." (Matthew 5:14).
Burr! What a cold, stormy, rainy day. I ran quickly to pick up the empty
garbage can. I didn't want to have it rolling around on the road or have the
wind pick up the lid and deposit it in one of our neighbor's yards.
As I leaned over to pick it up, I heard someone say, "Have a good day,
Ma'am!" I looked up and saw the smiling face of a young man standing on
the back ledge of the garbage truck. He had thrown garbage into the truck
all morning, had been subject to the driving rain and cold - but still had a
great attitude for his customers.
Having someone greet me in such a friendly way made my day. I waved and
walked back to the house with a big smile on my face too.
Recently, we were having dinner with friends. I noticed that our
conversation was drifting to the dark things that were happening in the
world. So I told them about an exciting email I had just received - from a
woman who had read the gospel on our website,
http://www.thoughts-about-god.com/4laws/law0.html and wrote that even
though she had heard knowledge about God, she had never before realized
that God wanted a personal relationship with her. She had received Jesus
as her Savior and Lord.
Soon we were telling each other "God stories" - about miracles and changed
lives. These good stories always encourage us.
Christians could be telling their friends, family and others "Good News" all
the time. A smile, a friendly greeting, a gift of kindness, a "God" story
or sharing the gospel all help bring light into peoples lives. Today let's
make a point of being a bearer of good news.
Father, there is darkness all around us, but you are the Light of the World.
You are doing so many miracles every day. Help us to bring this "good
news" to our sphere of influence. Amen
