Thanking Abundantly

By Evelyn Baerg
Back to Index

With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD; And in the midst of many I will praise Him. Psalm 109:30

I remember being blessed by a German pastor’s wife that I was discipling some years ago. Every time I came to her house, I would ask, “How are you?”

With a pronounced emphasis and a dip of her head on the first syllable, and a raise of her chin on the second, she would say, “Thankful”.

I have found that when I give thanks, I have a much better attitude towards life in general. I have also learned that being thankful (and saying it with our mouth) expresses our faith and confidence in the one we are thanking. Also, saying it with our mouth lets our subconscious know how we have chosen to react, and often determines how we feel.

I thank you Lord, for the person who is reading this today, and I pray that they will give thanks abundantly to the Lord; and in the midst of many they will praise Him. Amen
