God is Kind

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
After we sold our farm we moved to an apartment in another city. It was close to the ocean. The day after we moved there, Grandpa had to go away to a meeting in another city, so I was all by myself. I felt very lonely. I didn’t know anybody there and all our children, grandchildren and friends lived far away.
The next morning I decided to go for a walk to the ocean. I had only walked a little while when I noticed a big dog was trotting beside me. He was real friendly and acted like I was his owner.
When we got to the beach he brought me a stick and when I threw it into the water, he ran to get it and bring it to me. I threw it in again. We played like this for quite a while.
Then he chased the ducks - but would always come back - he wanted me to pat his back. People thought he was my dog. I felt good – I felt loved - even it if was only a dog.
He walked all the way home with me, but when I was a few feet from the apartment building, he left me and I never saw him again.
The Lord knew I needed a companion that day and He provided a dog friend for an hour. My heart was so happy. God loves us so much that He provides those special surprises for us.
Here is a prayer for you:
Father, you know when we are lonely and sad. Please bring us a special surprise so we know you love us. Thank You! Amen.
