Stronger Than a Crocodile

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
One morning while I was eating my breakfast, I read a story in a newspaper
that was real interesting—about a crocodile and a boy. Crocodiles have very strong jaws and once they grab something with their mouth, they won’t let go.
The story said that an Australian family was having a picnic near a lake. The boy was loading something into his small tin boat near the edge of the water when all of a sudden a big crocodile came out of the water and grabbed his leg and pulled him into the lake.
The mom and dad ran to the boys rescue. They punched and punched and kicked and kicked the crocodile. That was very courageous. But the crocodile wouldn’t let go of the boy’s leg. Crocodiles have lots of teeth and are very strong.
Then the story said, “The aunt hit him with her fists on the nose and yelled out, ‘Help! In the name of Jesus!” And you know what happened? The crocodile let go of the boy’s leg. Imagine that.
Did you know that the name of Jesus is very powerful? It sure is.
Have you ever cried for help using the name of Jesus?
Father, thanks for reminding us again that Your name is powerful. Help us to remember that. Amen.
