“We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith.”  Hebrews 12:2 (GW)

Focus:

Not on the winds of opposition, but on the setting of the sail;

Not on the howling of the storm, but on the voice of the Captain;

Not on the darkness of the sea, but on the lighthouse on the shore;

Not on the density of the fog, but on the true north of the compass;

Not on the restlessness of the waves, but on the anchor that holds steady.

God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.”  Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT

tired, sleeping, feet, exhausted

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2

Have you ever felt like you were in a rat race?
Jackie struggled with that feeling.
She was a Christian wife and mother, held a part-time job, and was actively involved in church.
For the most part, she enjoyed her activities.  But increasingly her efforts seemed fruitless.
She became discouraged, stressed and ready to drop out of life.

If you’ve ever been tempted to drop out when life seemed like a rat race,
let me assure you, you’re not alone!  Even the Apostle Paul felt that way.

His Biblical advice is to strip off the unnecessary weight that slows you down.
And to keep your eyes on Jesus.

Jackie heeded that advice by prioritizing her church responsibilities, dropping some commitments, and giving each day to God.

Run the race God has given you, friend, but don’t pick up hitchhikers!
