Real Joy

by Vonette Bright

Free online devotionalsMay the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

As a third-century man was anticipating death,
he penned these last words to a friend which remain true today:

It’s a bad world, an incredibly bad world.
But I have discovered in the midst of it, a quiet and holy people who have learned a great secret.
They have found a joy which is a thousand times better than any pleasure of our sinful life.
They are despised and persecuted, but they care not.
They have overcome the world. These people are Christians — and I am one of them.”

Dear one, happiness is like the moon. It shines brightly and then clouds over.
But Joy is like the sun – always shining even when night falls or clouds cover it.
Happiness comes from humans  –  joy is from God.  It’s one of His attributes!

Friend, when you invite Jesus into your heart, God’s  joy is just a prayer away.

  1. Miles Allayban says:

Nowadays, i feel tired, empty and sad although i have two cute wonderful kids and a loving husband. Upon reading the articles of Thoughts for Today, i realized all I need is the word of God. I want to experience again the joy in my heart that comes from our Almighty God. My heart is now crying out to seek and searching God and praying to manifest Himself into my life.

  2. SUE THOLKEN says:

My daughter has a wonderful expression that she teases me with if I show signs of discouragement in this world of turmoil. She says to me “How much of the Holy Spirit have you incorporated into your day today?” We have a good giggle and it brings me right back to the reality that this is not our “home”, we are just passing through. Our strength and JOY comes from the LORD of it all and cannot be spoiled or taken away. We are in control of how we respond to any given situation either with God given control or human emotional responses. The Holy Spirit, as we “incorporate” him into our lives, gives us our Joy that cannot be taken…
