Leaders Need Jesus Too!

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth” (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
Did you know that leaders are an unreached people group? Have you prayed for the salvation of the leaders recently? As stated in the above verse, praying for leaders pleases God.
Gloria, a lawyer from a Latin American country wrote to me,
“I have been a lawyer who specialized in criminal law. I was a prosecutor for several years, then I was appointed Head of the Public Defenders Division of the Supreme Court and I have also served as a Judge. Nobody talked to me about God or religion whatsoever.”
She went on to say that while watching an evangelist on TV one day, she opened her heart to Jesus Christ. She was “ripe fruit.” Someone just needed to tell her how to begin her personal relationship with God.
Months later she organized a luncheon for women in leadership at which she gave her testimony and I had the honor of being the main speaker. Out of the 130 women who came, 80 were not Christians. At the end of the outreach luncheon, 55 women indicated decisions to follow Christ.
What can one woman do? Only God knows. But it is possible for one leader to draw more people to an evangelistic event when she shares her testimony then if you or I were speaking.
Let me encourage you to take time today to pray for the top leaders in your city and country - that they will ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.
Also, drop them a note of thanks, an inspirational booklet and the address of an evangelistic website for leaders such as Secrets of Success – www.secretsofsuccess.com.
Pray for our leaders! They need the Lord!
Father, cause us to remember to pray for the leaders in our country, community and church. Amen.
